Co-founder hub

"OneStart is a colossal stimulus for university entrepreneurship at all levels from undergraduates to academic staff."

– Hagan Bayley, Co-founder of Oxford Nanopore

The OneStart Co-founder Hub gives you the chance to build your perfect team or join a biotech startup.

All teams are advised to browse this hub to complement their teams with co-founders. One of our judging criteria will be the breadth of expertise within your team.

If you do not have an idea of your own, but experience or skills that would be useful to a bio-entrepreneur, register now as a co-founder. Our goal is to link people with ideas with those who can help them realise it.

Send an email now to somebody below, and who knows, you might be picking up an oversized cheque with them in May 2016.

After being extensively trained in biotech and pharma fields during my academic history, I am interested to jump into entrepreneurship to transform ideas into reality that can be sold. In biotech fields, there are just tons of ideas can be generated but without stimulating entrepreneurship this can only be just lab-bench results. With entrepreneuship we can expand those ideas for 'real' applications. I am extensively trained in polymeric materials science for biomaterials as well as in 3D cell
culture technology for biomedical applications.

As a surgical trainee, I am developing a broad skill set in both clinical and academic settings with extensive experience in medicine, teaching, research and management. I completed my PhD (Warwick 2013) into the novel field of protein damage in joint disease which has brought me to biotech entrepreneurship in which I have had a long held interest. I have skills to offer in terms of development, translation and application of ideas to healthcare.

I have developed business plans surrounding a small-molecule antiviral drug and a healthcare IT platform for booking elective surgeries. I was President of the Penn Biotech Group at Wharton, doing project management and consulting for both large and small biotech/pharma/device companies. I have consulted to VC firms on investments in the HIV space. My Ph.D. thesis was in HIV Virology and I am currently a Postdoc engineering novel therapies for Flu/Ebola/Marburg in collaboration with industry/military.
I am interested in starting a business as an opportunity to create something of value for the World (or even just a few patients). I like working with very small teams because I think it is the best setting to learn from others, and the easiest way to see what impact my skills can have.

Biotech offers one of the most promising areas with which entrepreneurship can transform our lives for the better. I seek projects that can truly make a positive impact on the world, and allow me to apply and further develop my key skills of Problem Solving, Software Engineering, Maths, Physics and Finance. As a Post-doc Researcher and Software Developer in the Maths Institute at Oxford University, I love learning and challenging myself. I aim to be as adaptable and flexible as I possibly can be, and the variety of work required in founding a Biotech start-up offers, I believe, great opportunities for my own personal growth.

As a PhD student in medical imaging I am always keen to know about -- and maybe also contribute to -- methods which made the step into clinical applications. Biotech Entrepreneurship is a great opportunity to get in touch and connect with those who also work towards that goal

I was a OneStart semi-finaliat last year at Cambridge University while pursuing my MBA. I created financial projections, business plans, and pitches for the competition. I have a degree in Physical Chemistry and Molecular Biology with some analytical chemistry experience for the military. I am currently finishing my final year of medical school in Washington, DC but am traveling across the US interviewing for residency positions. I am interested in joining a team with a good idea that needs help from a business or medical input aspect. I love the startup environment and am passionate about the scientitix imporvement of medicine through texh and pharm. I have participated in creation of a data product for an health care company.
I have experience in working on web and IT related service;
I have developed a software product individually.

I believe in using data science to alleviate some of the health care problems we face nowadays in emerging economy: namely the uneven distribution of medical resources and medical knowledge.

Through the use of data science we can help doctors all over the world to make better decisions.

As a combat veteran, I know what it takes to be part of a team, and I have a keen understanding of the issues facing veterans. My recently completed Fulbright research is a comparative policy analysis of American and Canadian veteran mental health care. Prior to that, I worked with MicroStrategy, SQL, and R to create forecasting algorithms, KPIs, and business intelligence dashboards for acute care facilities. I hold undergraduate degrees in Economics and Finance and a Master's in Mathematics. I am presently considering a PhD in Economics to continue my research.

I completed my PhD in Computational Biology at King's College London in 2014, and I am currently a postdoctoral researcher in medical imaging. I use machine learning techniques to identify cardiac diseases from clinical MRI data. Additionally I have had 3 months part-time experience at a computer vision start-up and understand many of the challenges a new company faces. I believe that entrepreneurship used to translate biotech research into healthcare products is an incredibly valuable and challenging endeavour, and would gladly offer my skills in data analytics, strategy and communication to a team with a proposal ideally in medical imaging, but I am also open to related areas.

Having been a previous semi-finalist of OneStart, I engage my passion for life sciences through entrepreneurial activities. While currently a PhD student in cancer research at drug development @ Cambridge, I am also undertaking a degree in Finance from LSE, as well as in internship in life sciences venture capital, giving me a unique insight into priming biotech startups for attracting investment.

I'm also a co-founder of a small Cambridge-based biotech, again helping me develop skills to help drive growth and build a business case for biotech-based ideas.

Please reach out if you'd like to chat about any aspect of above, or how we might work together to build a sustainable startup capable of attracting investment and moving through the produce development process.
