Co-founder hub

"OneStart is a colossal stimulus for university entrepreneurship at all levels from undergraduates to academic staff."

– Hagan Bayley, Co-founder of Oxford Nanopore

The OneStart Co-founder Hub gives you the chance to build your perfect team or join a biotech startup.

All teams are advised to browse this hub to complement their teams with co-founders. One of our judging criteria will be the breadth of expertise within your team.

If you do not have an idea of your own, but experience or skills that would be useful to a bio-entrepreneur, register now as a co-founder. Our goal is to link people with ideas with those who can help them realise it.

Send an email now to somebody below, and who knows, you might be picking up an oversized cheque with them in May 2016.

I am keenly interested in bringing the ideas from bench to business. During my PhD and postdoc periods I have been involved in finding and understanding how the new findings are made in laboratory environment. I have developed keen interest in transforming and further applying my findings and gained knowledge into real life situations. This would enable not only make use of the research findings but also enable wealth generation for the society.

My background is in Biology and Behavior, and I am currently in my final year of an Engineering Doctorate (EngD). My real passion is tech and I love to code. I know several languages and am able to produce complex dynamic websites and webapps, but am always keen to learn more.

I will also complete my MBA this year and so have a lot of business knowledge that a start-up could benefit from. I'd love to put my skills to good use in an exciting field like biotech.

I started out planning to be in academia for life, but throughout my career I discovered that I would like to work on directly applicable research and providing tangible and useful options/products for people.

My current work is all done at the bench, I am very experienced in all the basic molecular biology and biochemistry techniques (think CRISPR editing, protein design and purification, RNA work, confocal microscopy, PCR, cloning, etc).

In the past I have worked with clinical samples in a massive scale to determine certain genetic traits. I am currently in an institution associated with a hospital, so I believe arrangements for collaborations and use of patient samples are possible in the future if needed by the project.

I had my master degree in Material Engineering in UCD, Ireland. I see the biotech area as the key to solve many different human health problems in the future, which will get more serious and will greatly influence the living quality of people everywhere.

Currently, I’m the Co founder of a startup biotechnology company called Ourobotics from 2015, I have been involved in startup competitions in China. Recently we came second in 'Changshu-Ireland Startup Competition’.

During my time at UCD, I have gained knowledge in material, mechanical, business and marketing and really want to put those skills into use.

Hi there! I'm a 3rd year PhD student in Biomedical Materials (with obvious interest in the healthcare sector).

I've got a great training and a lot of entrepreneurial experience during OneStart 2014 (I founded a project that has got to the semi-finals) as well as other initiatives (Virgin Pitch to Rich 2015). I have good leadership skills, like pitching ideas and preparing application forms. I've also spent many hours on talks with TTOs about IP protection, product design, etc. Happy to serve with both my entrepreneurial skills and/or scientific training to person with a great idea.

I'm a trained physicist working on an engineering project where a lot of biology and chemistry is involved, soI've got good multidisciplinary background + problem solving and design optimisation skills.
