The OneStart Co-founder Hub gives you the chance to build your perfect team or join a biotech startup.

All teams are advised to browse this hub to complement their teams with co-founders. One of our judging criteria will be the breadth of expertise within your team.

I'm a biologist with a strong background in molecular biology and zebrafish genetics. I have worked in chemical screening in zebrafish and my phD was focused in fin regeneration growth control. I believe biotech entrepreneurship is key for the development of novel therapies, not only because of the ideas themselves, but also because the motivation and team spirit involved in creating something new lead to the advance of science.

I am deeply passionate about applying my scientific training to translate research knowledge into products or processes that benefit community healthcare. I have a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences, where I worked on on cardiovascular development, disease and ion channel regulation. I will be moving on soon to postdoctoral research work in sebaceous gland biology and acne, as part of a government-industry collaboration. I have also worked as a biotechnology investment fund analyst at University of California, San Francisco and taken courses in intellectual property law. I appreciate the commercial and legal aspects of translational research discoveries, and I hope to contribute my scientific expertise and analytical skills to biotech entrepreneurship.

Brief intro
Biotechnology or Biomedical engineering is one of the disciplines has an immense outreach, especially in terms of healthcare. Although, not trained in medicine, the understanding of disease mechanisms and detection has always fascinated me.
I am currently a PhD student at the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore pursuing my thesis on the synthesis of nano particles, especially graphene and applications in sensing and imaging. I have experience on material synthesis and characterization, I have also worked on fluorescence sensing and fundamental studies like fluorescence imaging.
Apart from this I also have limited knowledge on drug delivery techniques and basic molecular biology techniques.

I entered OneStart two years ago via the co-founder hub, making it to the bootcamp stage with my team. Two years on I feel I am even better equipped to offer both communication and technical skills, having since worked in Communications at the World Health Organization and in a lab setting on Antimicrobial Resistance. I recently finished a degree in pharmacology and am currently completing a year in Management studies including economics.
I have a particular interest in antimicrobial resistance but would be interested to hear from a team focusing on any biotech area. I want to go at least one better this time around by making the semi-finals, and would love to help use my experience from last year's competition to help take a team right through to the final stage of the competition.

I am a medical professional specializing in neurosurgery. I am an attending clinical neurosurgeon at the University of California in Los Angeles and I am experienced in treating complex spinal deformities using state of the art surgical techniques. I also have had the opportunity to work with machine learning technologies for biomedical image analysis during my research fellowships. I believe that combining machine learning with advanced biomedical image analysis can usher in a new era of cutting edge minimally invasive spine surgery. I also have substantial expertise in developing and deploying hospital picture archiving and communication system (PACS) systems after having done so during my residency years.
