Co-founder hub

"OneStart is a colossal stimulus for university entrepreneurship at all levels from undergraduates to academic staff."

– Hagan Bayley, Co-founder of Oxford Nanopore

The OneStart Co-founder Hub gives you the chance to build your perfect team or join a biotech startup.

All teams are advised to browse this hub to complement their teams with co-founders. One of our judging criteria will be the breadth of expertise within your team.

If you do not have an idea of your own, but experience or skills that would be useful to a bio-entrepreneur, register now as a co-founder. Our goal is to link people with ideas with those who can help them realise it.

Send an email now to somebody below, and who knows, you might be picking up an oversized cheque with them in May 2016.

Through undertaking the MSci programme in Integrative Pharmacology and Physiology for Research at King’s College London, I have had significant laboratory experience both in the in vivo setting but also when attempting to design novel proof-of-concept in vitro and ex vivo assays. Furthermore, through the invaluable laboratory experience gained at the biopharmaceutical company UCB, I have become proficient in many experimental techniques including ELISA, MSD, PCR, Western Blot and multicolour flow cytometry.

I endeavour to pursue a research career in which I significantly contribute to the development of techniques and methodologies which improve our collective understanding of as yet poorly defined concepts.

I have a PhD in Biomedical Sciences and I am interested in Biotech entrepreneurship in London. Alongside my PhD I attended courses relating to business development, negotiations and opportunity identification. Moreover, I am following a 3 month internship at WSF, an Accelerator, at which I am gaining hands-on experience on the early stages of a start-up and I am helping WSF set up a health acceleration program. My passion for science, interest in cutting edge research and hypothesis-driven approach to problem solving are a combination that would allow me to translate scientific innovation from ideas to commercial reality and is something which I want to further develop. I would welcome the opportunity to meet and discuss my interests and added value further.

Biotech has enormous potential to change the world for the better. As a former "product guy" (designer by training, led design/engineering for China-based solar technology startup), I know focus on commercial strategy for early-stage science.

I design and test business models to deliver technical founders' innovation to world. I "get" science and technology and apply it in the real world to identify and solve real problems.

I am a multidisciplinary research student with excellent knowledge in point-of-care, microfluidic, molecular (DNA) diagnostic device development. Possesses unique knowledge gained through interdisciplinary projects (academic and industrial collaborations) in sample preparation, nucleic acid assay development and product design. In 2012, I began my PhD at Brunel University within a large interdisciplinary group. My research focuses on the development of an integrated molecular diagnostic device for Point-of-Care testing in resource-limited settings.

Biotech is a rapidly growing market in which healthcare products are always in demand.

I am from a 3rd world country, Zimbabwe, and am currently studying at the University of Manchester. Medical equipment readily available in 1st world countries is not easily accessible or is too expensive and therefore patients go to countries like South Africa to get treated.

Since I am from Zimbabwe, I have local knowledge and my family is business oriented, in a different field though. I can use my technical knowledge from engineering and business knowledge from working with my dad to startup a business in Zimbabwe and then expand it to other parts of Africa in which I supply medical equipment, install it and then provide regular maintenance.

In my point of view Biotech entrepreneurship is a way to fulfill my dreams and make it feasible. I have a good background in food technology, especially in food chemistry, and nutrition sciences as well. I can easily deal with groups because i am very outgoing. I also am experienced at sport (fitness and physical readiness since i was a child) and i know how people can manage their weight in the best way and consequently get rid of complications of obesity or under-nutrition and related problems and disease. In addition to the issues listed, i recently cooperate in a cohort study as a "responsible for the nutrition Section". I would be my pleasure to share my skills and knowledge with you.The combination of knowledge and experience can help up to strongly going forward.

I'm a soon-to-be graduate from the Physics program at Queen's University, with a keen interest in the physics of cancer therapy. Currently I am completing my Honors Thesis at the Cancer Centre of Southeastern Ontario, where I am performing preliminary Monte Carlo simulations for a new Cobalt-60 radiotherapy unit. This unit is a cheaper, more sustainable alternative to a Linac and could be a better option for cancer treatment in developing regions. I would be very interested in joining a biotech endeavor that is working to provide cheap, feasible health care technologies to developing countries.
