Co-founder hub

"OneStart is a colossal stimulus for university entrepreneurship at all levels from undergraduates to academic staff."

– Hagan Bayley, Co-founder of Oxford Nanopore

The OneStart Co-founder Hub gives you the chance to build your perfect team or join a biotech startup.

All teams are advised to browse this hub to complement their teams with co-founders. One of our judging criteria will be the breadth of expertise within your team.

If you do not have an idea of your own, but experience or skills that would be useful to a bio-entrepreneur, register now as a co-founder. Our goal is to link people with ideas with those who can help them realise it.

Send an email now to somebody below, and who knows, you might be picking up an oversized cheque with them in May 2016.

Brief intro
Through reaching the finals and creating an award winning business plan as MD for our company idea within the Biotech YES scheme, my insight into the biotech industry began. From then on, I have worked as an intellectual property fellow at UMIP, and as part of OBR's consultancy team being exposed to a wide array of scientific research, and the necessary and complex pathways through to commercialisation. As a scientist I enjoy understanding and analysing the research, but more recently, I have developed and transferred these skills for more commerce-oriented outcomes. I will bring my current understanding and abilities to any team, and put my all into the business and look forward to working with other like-minded people.

Brief intro
Following a solid academic grounding in bioscience research, I have spent the last few years in commercial technology development, principally software development in a variety of scientific and engineering domains. I enjoy working in small, dynamic teams to bring new ideas and products to life, and have experience in project management and in recruiting and supervising others. My industrial experience has also given me some insight into how things work in the commercial world, including such areas as intellectual property, engineering and design, manufacturing and sales channels.

I believe my technical and supervisory experience would make me a good fit for a role such as CTO in a biotech startup, or a solid addition with commercial experience in a digital health or medtech project.

Brief intro
After being extensively trained in biotech and pharma fields during my academic history, I am interested to jump into entrepreneurship to transform ideas into reality that can be sold. In biotech fields, there are just tons of ideas can be generated but without stimulating entrepreneurship this can only be just lab-bench results. With entrepreneuship we can expand those ideas for 'real' applications. I am extensively trained in polymeric materials science for biomaterials as well as in 3D cell
culture technology for biomedical applications.

Brief intro
During my PhD at University of Trento, Italy, and postgraduate experience at New York University, I devised emulsions and liposomes encapsulating biological molecules that I would like to commercialize. I developed these systems in a very multidisciplinary and international academic context but lacking of entrepreneurial spirit. I would be thrilled to join your program and bridge this gap, leading my interests towards the bioscience industry. I want to learn how to commercialize ideas and devices developed in research laboratories and how develop business models to initiate my own company.

My area of focus and interest varies from quantitative analysis to project management. I gained solid research, analytical and problem solving skills while working in academy but I miss a good knowledge
