Co-founder hub
Overview

"OneStart is a colossal stimulus for university entrepreneurship at all levels from undergraduates to academic staff."

– Hagan Bayley, Co-founder of Oxford Nanopore

The OneStart Co-founder Hub gives you the chance to build your perfect team or join a biotech startup.

All teams are advised to browse this hub to complement their teams with co-founders. One of our judging criteria will be the breadth of expertise within your team.

If you do not have an idea of your own, but experience or skills that would be useful to a bio-entrepreneur, register now as a co-founder. Our goal is to link people with ideas with those who can help them realise it.

Send an email now to somebody below, and who knows, you might be picking up an oversized cheque with them in May 2016.

Biotech has always been something i have always wanted to do since childhood, technology as a whole has always fascinated and captivated me. Entrepreneurship is something i love, perhaps it is as a result of coming from entrepreneurship oriented family.

I have always wanted to focus my entrepreneurial goals in sectors like biotech, pharmaceuticals, cloud computing, software, robotics and artificial intelligence.

I believe i can be a great entrepreneur, i am willing to do anything to realise the success of a business. My greatest ability is the potential to learn new things.

I love biotechnology, companies like Gilead, Amgen, Juno therapeutics, Biogen who have devoted research to discover and defeat rare diseases have always inspired me.

I am a materials engineer, always looking for new challenges and opportunities.
Thanks to my background in engineering, I gained an analytical way of thinking, being able to deal with problems, identifying their causes and reaching their solutions. This has been further enhanced during my years abroad, in which I have had responsibilities for different projects, and I learnt how to be independent in dealing with the diverse issues that can arise in them.
In addition to this, since my work and studies often involved working with people from various different backgrounds, I think that my communication and teamwork skills have been enhanced and refined throughout the years. I have learned how to express, motivate and sustain my opinions, and also how to listen, and organize ideas from others

Biotechnology especially oncology had always been something i've been interested in. I've always wanted to start up a biotech company or become a co founder for one. I believe finding the right partnership involving people that complement your skills in different ways is important in entrepreneurship. I believe i can contribute effectively to ensure the success of a venture. I understand the risks and the rewards involved in this process. But I'm willing to take my chances if there rewards outweigh the risks involved.

Development of precisely tuned polymer peptide-drug conjugates for drug delivery
Codelviery of drugs for cancer treatment is a routine approach in clinics. However, the treatment poses several issues, such as different cellular uptakes and biodistribution of two different drugs. The development of carefully tuned polymer-peptide vectors would allow site specific attachment of each drug to the polymer-peptide backbone, hence fixing the molar ratio of two drugs per polymer chain.

I am very interested in biotech entrepreneurship.
as a young man, with my own ambition, I am alway eager to start my own business. Nowadays, with the thriving development of biotechnology and it's application to the real world, I am very happy if I could be part of it.
as for me, I obtain my BS in chemical engineering, then I got my PhD in synthetic organic chemistry, right now I am postdoc in mount sinai (drug descovery, medicinal chemist), therefore, I am very good at organic synthesis and certain knowledge of biology.
I would be very happy to find someone to work together and achieve the goal.

For the past few years I have had a continuous flow of motivation to learn. I graduated with a degree in Biology from USA then I returned to my home country Egypt and studied Medicine. Throughout my medical studies I prepared myself for Neuroscience research by obtaining training in multiple institutions in USA and Europe. Then I did a European Masters in Neuroscience at top universities in Germany and Netherlands. I am interested in being part of a start up focusing on Neurodegenerative diseases and I believe I have a very strong background to allow me to be of benefit. I'm independent yet enjoy being part of a team. I am aware of all aspects of Neurodegenerative diseases from molecular to clinical including what patients experience. Research, for me, is more than a career, it's a cause.

I believe that any idea, no matter how simple that can help diagnose, treat, evaluate treatments or simply reduce symptoms of a disease should be granted a chance to be translated into a usable technology or product to improve patient outcomes. I believe that biotech entrepreneurship is the means to achieving this.
I bring extensive technical skills in software and firmware development, investigative and research skills including the ability to design, analyzed and evaluate outcomes of experiments. I also bring communication skills, public speaking and technical writing allowing me to share knowledge with both scientific and consumer communities. Finally, I bring the passion and ambition to make a difference along with it comes the hard work, problem solving and dedication.
