Co-founder hub

"OneStart is a colossal stimulus for university entrepreneurship at all levels from undergraduates to academic staff."

– Hagan Bayley, Co-founder of Oxford Nanopore

The OneStart Co-founder Hub gives you the chance to build your perfect team or join a biotech startup.

All teams are advised to browse this hub to complement their teams with co-founders. One of our judging criteria will be the breadth of expertise within your team.

If you do not have an idea of your own, but experience or skills that would be useful to a bio-entrepreneur, register now as a co-founder. Our goal is to link people with ideas with those who can help them realise it.

Send an email now to somebody below, and who knows, you might be picking up an oversized cheque with them in May 2016.

I have a background (BA, MEng) in chemical engineering and biotechnology. I am currently pursuing a PhD in biophysics focusing on:
-developing biological photovoltaic cells for cheap renewable energy generation;
-building state-of-the-art tools for studying and characterising proteins
-developing early stage diagnostics and treatments for neurodegenerative diseases
I am using microfluidics and microdroplets (single cell studies) as a research tool among biophysical tools.

I am interested in technology development, biotechnology, microfluidics, novel sensing approaches, soft-robotics, energy generation, distribution and efficiency, data science, geopolitics etc.

I’m Kwan, a third year PhD student in biomedical science from Imperial College London. My project now is about the application of stem cells, besides, I have my Master degree in toxicology, from which I can provide some idea about the toxicity test. Since I’ve been working in academia for a while, I’m always interested in understanding how to put the finding in the lab into real market. So if you think I fit in your team, please feel free to contact me.

I am very excited in the field of biotechnology. We have come to age where individual students can collaborate and work on to a cure a disease is fascinating. As a bio engineer it is our moral duty to work on curing the diseases for future generations. I believe starting a biotech entreprenuership is the best way to show your talent and passion for medicine. I have been working in nerual regeneration for peripheral nerve injury for over two years. Over, those years I learned the ins and outs of wet lab work. And,I would like to use those lab skills and combine them with executive skills to start a biotech startup.

I belong to a drug delivery research group at UCL working with 3D printing technologies and patented formulas, so have an understanding of the business aspects of pharmaceuticals in addition to the fundamental science. I am also skilled in writing grant applications and scientific communication. This is in addition to my medical studies and as a UK-qualified pharmacist, involved in a breadth of student and national societies that have allowed me to develop communication, leadership and teamworking skills.

I was a OneStart semi-finaliat last year at Cambridge University while pursuing my MBA. I created financial projections, business plans, and pitches for the competition. I have a degree in Physical Chemistry and Molecular Biology with some analytical chemistry experience for the military. I am currently finishing my final year of medical school in Washington, DC but am traveling across the US interviewing for residency positions. I am interested in joining a team with a good idea that needs help from a business or medical input aspect. I love the startup environment and am passionate about the scientitix imporvement of medicine through texh and pharm. I am a huge nerd and would to help you win the OneStart this year so please don't hesitate to contact me!

Working for your own company and building it from nothing but an idea and enthusiasm is the highest level of personal achievement. Taking responsibility, pushing own creativity, enjoying in other team members' prosperity is everything that entrepreneur will want to have. It is time for the ultimate level of personal involvement. Being a 31 years old, I have had time to try and test different experiences: from DJ-ing and building a sewerage as a construction worker and member of a handball representation of University (Belgrade) to being a government official, solder and Marie Curie PhD researcher at Imperial College London. My skills would not be unique but will broad: organic synthesis, public presentation, marketing and design, management.
