Co-founder hub

"OneStart is a colossal stimulus for university entrepreneurship at all levels from undergraduates to academic staff."

– Hagan Bayley, Co-founder of Oxford Nanopore

The OneStart Co-founder Hub gives you the chance to build your perfect team or join a biotech startup.

All teams are advised to browse this hub to complement their teams with co-founders. One of our judging criteria will be the breadth of expertise within your team.

If you do not have an idea of your own, but experience or skills that would be useful to a bio-entrepreneur, register now as a co-founder. Our goal is to link people with ideas with those who can help them realise it.

Send an email now to somebody below, and who knows, you might be picking up an oversized cheque with them in May 2016.

i am interested in biotech entrepreneurship due to it being part and parcel of my career path, and having knowledge of how biotechnology is shaping medicine, and molecular biology. Also, I come from Nigeria where entrepreneurship is budding and opportunities are abundant to make impact in science and technology. It is my wish to help bridge the gap and provide solutions to problems pertaining innovation and healthcare in my home country.

Presently I am a PhD student in Cancer studies at Bangor University where i am opening myself to breakthrough studies and throughput research and improvising materials and method stop achieve results. This affords me with a repertoire of skills and knowledge which is being constantly developed.

I'm a biologist with a strong background in molecular biology and zebrafish genetics. I have worked in chemical screening in zebrafish and my phD was focused in fin regeneration growth control. I believe biotech entrepreneurship is key for the development of novel therapies, not only because of the ideas themselves, but also because the motivation and team spirit involved in creating something new lead to the advance of science.

I originally wanted to go to medical school. I kept getting distracted while going through my engineering program, but I am still very interested in medicine. I came to the realization that I needed to combine the two interests and now that is what drives me. I am working on a number of medical innovations that will hopefully help many in the years to come. The thing that I am most passionate about right now is my own personal project to significantly improve the dialysis process. Patients get sick and most cant wait long enough to get a transplant. My solution is to introduce a new material that will not only improve patient care length, but increase the quality of life while undergoing treatment.

I'm a PhD student in Aston University at Ebri institute and I'm part of the Surface, Material and Catalysis group and I have developed skills in characterisation and synthesis of new materials, followed by their application. Therefore the knowledge I will bring is fundamental for this project. I'm interested in biotech because I know only a little about that.

Brief intro
Following a solid academic grounding in bioscience research, I have spent the last few years in commercial technology development, principally software development in a variety of scientific and engineering domains. I enjoy working in small, dynamic teams to bring new ideas and products to life, and have experience in project management and in recruiting and supervising others. My industrial experience has also given me some insight into how things work in the commercial world, including such areas as intellectual property, engineering and design, manufacturing and sales channels.

I believe my technical and supervisory experience would make me a good fit for a role such as CTO in a biotech startup, or a solid addition with commercial experience in a digital health or medtech project.

I had my master degree in Material Engineering in UCD, Ireland. I see the biotech area as the key to solve many different human health problems in the future, which will get more serious and will greatly influence the living quality of people everywhere.

Currently, I’m the Co founder of a startup biotechnology company called Ourobotics from 2015, I have been involved in startup competitions in China. Recently we came second in 'Changshu-Ireland Startup Competition’.

During my time at UCD, I have gained knowledge in material, mechanical, business and marketing and really want to put those skills into use.

I am interested in entrepreneurship since it gives an opportunity to change lives. Every day presents new challenges and new opportunities which means no two days are ever the same. I thrive in fast paced and changing environment. The reason why I am particularly interested in" biotech" entrepreneurship is because of my background in Pharmacology and Physiology.
It is a great feeling to create something from nothing and turn your passion and beliefs into a business.
I am experienced in project coordination and competent at prioritisation, organisation and management of multiple tasks to achieve tight deadlines and objectives. Working on various group
projects helped me to improve some of the key entrepreneurial skills such as networking, communication, and negotiation.
