Co-founder hub
Overview

"OneStart is a colossal stimulus for university entrepreneurship at all levels from undergraduates to academic staff."

– Hagan Bayley, Co-founder of Oxford Nanopore

The OneStart Co-founder Hub gives you the chance to build your perfect team or join a biotech startup.

All teams are advised to browse this hub to complement their teams with co-founders. One of our judging criteria will be the breadth of expertise within your team.

If you do not have an idea of your own, but experience or skills that would be useful to a bio-entrepreneur, register now as a co-founder. Our goal is to link people with ideas with those who can help them realise it.

Send an email now to somebody below, and who knows, you might be picking up an oversized cheque with them in May 2016.

Healthcare is on the way to be revolutionized in this technological and genomic age. I am specifically interested in improved and fast diagnostics and genome-based personalized medicine.

I am currently finishing a Ph.D. where I studied protein structure and interactions using sensitive in vitro methods. In the past I have worked on computational projects based on protein-ligand docking and promoter prediction. I have training in biochemistry, molecular biology and bioinformatics that can be useful for drug and biologics development. I also have a futuristic bent of bend and have been dabbling with entrepreneurship.

I have bachelor’s & master’s degrees in Engineering Design IIT-Madras, with a biomedical engineering minor. I want to help the society with the knowledge that I have, in a way that shows me visible output. Human physiology fascinates me and so does product design. Biotech entrepreneurship lets me combine these two to create a direct impact on lives.
I have worked on biomedical devices as an intern with Stanford India Biodesign, Philips Healthcare & Renu Electronics, & during several academic projects.
I have co-invented 3 patented medical devices. My strengths are mechanical engineering, electronics, creative thinking, product design & prototyping.

I am interested in biotech entrepreneurship because I have a passion for health information technology. Unfortunately, HIT is far behind most other industries. I want to be part of the solution that narrows and closes that gap.

I have completed a Masters in Public Health program, am in the process of a Health Information Technology Certificate program, and work in the healthcare field, which has given me insight into how biotech can solve healthcare problems. Additionally, I have previously studied design and psychology, which will aid in creating a user friendly and attractive product.

Brief intro
I'm fascinated by the application of biology to the everyday world and the use of medical research to immediately impact patient outcomes. I bring my diverse experiences in translational research, and a strong passion for medical research and helping patients and the medically under-served. I'm a recent graduate of UC Berkeley in Molecular and Cell Biology and currently a researcher at UCSF's Grand Multiple Myeloma Translational Initiative. Most significantly during my undergrad, I studied antimalarial drug resistance in Uganda, presented an honors thesis on my undergraduate research on an engineered cardiac patch for post-infarction treatment, studied an important signalling pathway in liver cancer in Singapore's National Cancer Center, and studied leech embryonic development at Cal.

Brief intro
It was a passion for seeing technology and engineering solve problems that drove me towards studying biomedical engineering as an undergrad. While spending the last seven years in military service, I saw how simple solutions solved real world problems. Additionally, I learned how to achieve goals, which are not always quantifiable, by leveraging the strengths and talents of individual contributors. I am now a graduate student, pursuing degrees in business administration and public health. I'm most passionate about improving on a solution to neonatal jaundice using phototherapy by creating a simply designed product, helping lower costs and make treatment more widely available.
